Last year, at the beginning of April, we cycled more than 400 km through the Ukraine. We once again enjoyed the unprecedented hospitality of the local population. Ukraine is in the news every day. The war is causing more and worse casualties.
There are no winners in a war. Many people are doing something in various ways to ease the pain of all the refugees. Eva, Ben's youngest daughter, asked us if we could do something through Foundation XPLORid. Although our foundation normally provides immediate and local help, we don’t say no to such a request.
The Bibi House (het Bibihuis) and Foundation Protected Cradle (Stichting Beschermde Wieg)
The Bibi House, where Eva is working, has lent the Bibi bus to Foundation Protected Cradle to pick up mothers and children in Ukraine. We go back in time and contribute to the purchase of items that people need most during the asylum. Baby food, underwear, diapers, sanitary pads, washcloths, towels, shower gel, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes. Soon the van will leave for Poland and all the necessary items will go along.
We like to go completely back in time to end this war.
Childcare
The Bibi House provides 24-hour care and care during weekends and holidays for children between the ages of 4 and 18. The aim is to offer the children a warm, cozy, secure and safe living environment. A family feeling is created in the house by permanent and committed employees and a number of loyal pets.
The Bibi House also collects money for the Ukraine by selling homemade bracelets and key rings together with children in the neighborhood. We doubled the amount of money the children collected.
We are back on track
On March 1 2022, we restarted our world bicycle tour. We collect € 1 for every km we cycle. With that money we give direct and local help to people in need and support nature projects. So far we have cycled 21,420 km and received € 15,150 in donations.
